Dr. sc. med. Michele Serra (PhD)
Dr. Michele Serra is our Clinical Research Manager at the University Hospital Zurich and at the Männedorf Hospital. He received an MSc in Biology with a focus on Genetics, Medical Biology, and Zoology from the Technical University of Munich, and an MSc in Life Sciences with a specialization in Nutrition and Health from the Bern University of Applied Sciences. He completed his PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Zurich.
Dr. Serra’s research lies at the intersection of neuroendocrinology and obesity physiology, with particular focus on gut hormones, the gut microbiome, and ingestive behavior. His work seeks to advance our understanding of these systems to improve therapeutic outcomes and discover new therapeutic targets for patients living with obesity and those undergoing bariatric surgery.
Beyond his research, Dr. Serra is an elected voting member of both the Faculty of Medicine and the Senate of the University of Zurich, where he advocates for the interests of early-career researchers.
