Nicole Jucker

Nicole Jucker is a PhD Student in metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) and obesity research group. She obtained her masters degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Basel in 2022.

Her research focuses on the changes in ingestive behavior following MBS, focusing on sex differences and gut hormone levels. Additionally, she explores how these changes impact postoperative clinical outcomes. The microstructure of eating and drinking provides insights into the central nervous system mechanisms that regulate caloric intake. Therefore, findings could offer valuable and novel understanding of how the brain controls ingestive behavior and identify the neural circuits specifically altered by MBS. These insights have the potential to influence current clinical practices and contribute to the global effort to develop less invasive therapies for obesity that achieve clinical benefits similar to those after MBS.
