DIBASH
This is an ongoing project.
Scientific Report
The DIBASH Project (Direct Measurement of Ingestive Behaviour in Relation to Sex Differences and Gastrointestinal Hormone Levels in Patients After Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery), initiated by Prof. Marco Bueter in 2024, aims to investigate the behavioural mechanisms influencing changes in food intake following bariatric surgery, specifically focusing on procedures like Sleeve Gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass.
This study utilises the "Drinkometer" to directly investigate changes or differences in ingestive behaviour in male and female patients before and after surgery, while simultanously assessing postpandrial gut hormone levels.
The use of innovative tools like drinkometer offers a more detailed perspective on the changes in ingestive behaviours. By focusing on the microstructure of ingestive behaviour and its relation to sex differences and gut hormone levels, this study aims to enhance the understanding of obesity and provide new insights for the development of better postoperative care strategies.
The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Zurich with BASEC-Nr. 2023-02109.
The study is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov with ID NCT06538948 (ClinicalTrials.gov).
